Welcome to the weekend, and welcome to the Saturday 7.
As Christians, we're called to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. Jesus told us his Spirit would be poured out, and he warned about earthquakes and wars. This week, as we begin the 40 days during which we remember his suffering, let us acknowledge that he has told us what to do in joyful, as well as uncertain, circumstances – abide in him (John 15) and stand fast (Matthew 24) as we both rejoice in what seems to be a growing move of his spirit on a college campus and weep with those suffering in the midst of war and disaster.
Lent is an austere season of prayer, fasting, and self-denial. Some Christians follow the example of Jesus in the wilderness and give up something for 40 days. Others intentionally engage in activities or reflections to help them identify with Christ's sufferings. Lent begins Wednesday, February 22, so we've curated five resources for you as you consider this holy season.
Do you consider faithfulness success, regardless of the outcome? Jami and Clint Kaeb do. They have experienced the sacrifices that come with choosing to be generous. See what God is using to teach them that when we give generously we receive deeply.
February 24 marks the one-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine, and charities continue to provide support. We've updated our story of vetted charities so you can consider giving again. Please join us in praying this week for God’s mighty hand to protect Ukraine in advance of the impending milestone and in the face of thousands of Russian troops on all sides.
Saturday 7 is brought to you by our team at the National Christian Foundation (NCF). We would love to help you create your Giving Strategy™ so you can experience more joy and adventure as you pursue a life of generosity. Find an NCF location near you at ncfgiving.com/locations.
